2023 Matchday 2 SE Wrap up

On Wednesday 21st June, once again, some of the best South East junior clubs took centre stage as they returned for Matchday 2 of the Junior Champions League.

This time, it was Keysborough Soccer Club who played host venue on a cold Wednesday night under the lights in South East Melbourne.  JCL clubs were treated to a welcoming venue who showed off their fantastic hospitality and facilities..

As always the Champions League anthem blasted on the walkout to give those pre-match adrenaline shots before kick off to create the perfect setting for epic battles on the pitch.

The hosts Keysborough SC went up against Nunawading in Under 9 and the ding dong battle turned out to be a thrilling 4-4 encounter and without doubt one of the highlights of the round.

In the Under 11's category, Rowville Eagles are leading the goalscoring charts with 18 goals for, after adding to their goals with a 3-0 victory over F90 who haven't found their feet in the group at the moment.

Another big scoring team is the ruthless U12 Girls Heidelberg United Womens team who smashed 12 goals past Ashburton Utd SC, making their presence known in the group and piling the pressure on their rivals South Melbourne Womens now joint at the top of the league.

Elsewhere Malvern City in the Under 13s stayed undefeated after beating Ashburton Utd SC 3-1 which see's them top of the ladder.

With all teams looking brilliant, JCL recognise a few operations issues to rectify heading into Matchday 3 to ensure the smooth competition that has been done so far. We thank everyone, from teams to players and to spectators for their support and patience.

We can't wait for Matchday 3 in July! See you then
